Eclectic Collections 2: Trapeze
December 1, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Second in a series of three hour-long concerts at The Forge, celebrating an array of 20th-century duos and trios.
A concert of alluring music for flute and piano by British composers. Lesser-known composer York Bowen is affectionately called ‘the English Rachmaninoff’ for his romantic style. The other pieces in this concert are programmatic – ‘Orange Dawn’ is a popular work with colourful special effects, ’In Ireland’ emulates street folk musicians, and ‘Trapeze’ was composed for Claire and Elspeth.
Ian Clarke – Orange Dawn
Joe Atkins – Trapeze
York Bowen – Sonata for flute & piano
Hamilton Harty – In Ireland
